Hercules (Kwang) Beetle Festival
A festival that is not really animal friendly but every year at end of September or begin October there is the "Hercules (Kwang) Beetle Festival" in Pua. The exact date changes per year as it is related to the moon calendar.

The Hercules’s Beetle is a bug commonly found in Pua District, named ‘Fighter of the Mountains’  (Kwang) due to its fighting habits. The festival is aimed at conserving the local tradition, particularly Hercules’s Beetle fighting. During the festival are also shown other local community traditions like silverware production and local woven textile from nearby mountain villages.

September / October, exact days change per year.

Where to go?

Near the bus station in Pua town, 60km north of Nan town.

How to get there?

With public transport take the Orange bus to Thung Chang and get off at Pua. By private car or motorbike follow route 101 to Tha Wang Pha and Pua.
