Wai Phra That Festivals in Nan - Thailand

This are festivals paying respect to the important phrathats temples and are being held all over Thailand. The tradition is to make merit, offer food & fruit to the monks and to worship Buddhist relics. In Nan these festivals are at 4 different temples and at of course 4 different times of the year.

Where & When?

  • Namatsakan Phrathat Beng Sakat Festival is being held in January
  • Hok Peng Waisa Mahathat Chae Haen Festival at Wat Phra That Chea Heang is being held in February / March. Especially for people born in the year of the rabbit.
  • Namatsakan Phrathat Khao Noi Festival at Wat Khao Noi is being held in May
  • Namatsakan Song Nam Phrachao Thongthip Festival at Wat Suan Tan is being held in April together with Thai New Year.
