Wat Nong Bua near Tha Wang Pha
The Wat Nong Bua is another example of a beautiful Tai Lue architecture temple in Nan. And again not only the building itself but especially the murals inside. Behind the temple is an example of an traditional Tai Lue house and a bit further is an OTOP shop selling Tai Lue cloths and other souvenirs. At the temple you can borrow bicycles to explore the village. In the village itself is another OTOP shop, here are also the famous Nam Lao hand-woven fabric produced & sold. Nearby the parking is an Coffee Shop and about 500m from the temple is an very nice Thai restaurant along the Nan River.
When to go to the Wat Nong Bua?All year around, daily from 9:00 - 17:00. Entrance is free.
Where to go?The Wat Nong Bua is located in a small village called Nong Bua, this village is 3 km Tha Wang Pha. And Tha Wang Pha is about 45 km north of Nan town.
How to get there?There is no public transport to the temple, but you could take the Orange Bus to Tha Wang Pha and from there a Songtheauw to Ban Nong Bua.
By private car or motorbike just follow route 101 to Tha Wang Pha. Then there are 2 options. First just go to Tha Wang Pha and follow the signs to Wat Nong Bua. Or the other way is just before route 101 goes over the Nan River, take a road to the left. Follow this road and after about 10-km you will be passing Wat Nong Bua. The latter is a nice upcountry road passing a few small villages.
