Khun Nan National Park near Bo Klua

The park was established in 2009 and it in the north-east side of Nan, along the Thai-Lao border.  The highest point of the park is Doi Phi Pan Nam with 1745 above sea-level and can be reached by hiking. At the back side of the park is the beautiful Saphan Waterfall (Namtok Saphan) what makes a lovely hiking to visit. There are more waterfalls in the area like Huai Ha, Ban Den and Huai Ti. At the HQ are some bungalows and camping ground. About National Parks in Nan province

There are 7 National Parks in Nan province, where nature meets adventure. Great places for jungle trekking, enjoying nature and wild water rafting. Besides National Parks there are also a few smaller forests, parks and Royal Projects.

Although all National Parks in Thailand can be visited the all year around there are some parks that close in the raining season depending on how much rain there is. The National Parks in Nan - Thailand are best to be visited at the end of the raining season or during the cool season, so from September to February. From March to June it will become a bit hot for hiking in National Parks.

Entrance fee : For most National Parks in Thailand you will have to pay an entrance fee, for what foreigners have the privilege to pay 4 or 5 time as much as Thai people. Although not all National Parks in Nan - Thailand do enforce the rule of entrance fee at all or the special foreigner entrance fee, at Khun Nan National Park they probably do.

Remark : Since 2017 you are not allowed anymore to drink alchohol in National Parks, this thanks to people who can not control themselves while drinking alchohol and start fighting or being an disturbance to other people (or animals).

Accommodation : Many National Parks have some simple bungalows or rooms as accommodation or camping grounds. But not all, check before you are going!

How to get Khun Nan National Park?

By public transport from Nan town take the Orange bus to Pua and then a Songteauw to Bo Klua. From Bo Klua arrange transport of Khun National Park (about 10km).

By private car or motorbike follow route 101 to Pua and the route 1256 to Bo Klua. From Bo Klua follow route 1081 to the park entrance. The entrance road to the park is very steep (but good road).
