Saphan Waterfall near Bo Klua

In Thai Nam Tok means waterfall, so Saphan Waterfall is called Nam Tok Saphan although sometimes it is written as Namtok Saphan. This waterfall is located in the village Ban Saphan, about 8-km north of Bo Klua, at the back of Khun Nan National Park. But it is NOT part of the National Park. It is a bit difficult to find (= no good signs) and you will have to make a bit of a hiking (half hour). The waterfall itself is not spectacular but the hiking in the jungle is an great experience in itself.

When to go to Saphan Waterfall?

All waterfalls can be visited daily from 9:00 - 17:00, all year around but are best to be visited at the end of the raining season or during the cool season. Almost all waterfalls are free to visit but some waterfalls are inside a National Park and some National Parks will charge a entrance fee. During heavy rains / bad weather waterfalls or National Parks can be closed.

Going to this Saphan Waterfall would show you the best waterfall, the walking trail going there would probably very slippery.

How to get to Saphan Waterfall?

There is no public transport going there, but you could take the bus to Pua and the songtheauw to Bo Klua and then another songtheauw to the village where the waterfall is. From there it is about 200m walking to the start of the trail to the waterfall.

By private car or motorbike just follow route 101 to Pua and route 1256 to Bo Klua. Then route 1081 going north for about 8-km (passing the signs for Khun Nan National Park). Take a right to Ban Saphan. In the village there is a small sign to the right for the waterfall. Drive on for about 200m to the parking and start walking.
