How to get to Huai Kon?
Well there is no bus going straight to Huai Kon, but you could take the Orange bus from Nan to Thung Chang and from there change to a songtheauw. Or you could take a mini-van from the bus-station in Nan town or even from Den Chai. By private car or motorbike just follow route 101 to Pua and Thung Chang and then continue route 101 until Huai Kon.
What to do in Huai Kon?
The main reason to go to Huai Kon is crossing the border between Thailand and Laos or visit the border market.

At the border area are some small Thai restaurants and a Coffee Shop. And at the intersection of route 1081 and the backroad to the border are also some small Thai restaurants and even one nice coffee shop that is also serving food.

Accommodation in Huai Kon
As Huai Kon is not really a tourist destination to stay overnight there is officially no accommodation. But in case you missed the bus, ask at the travel office near the border or at the coffee shop in town. As there are actually options for accommodation. The nearest accommodation would be in Laos, on the other side of the border at Muang Ngeun and Hongsa.
